When deciding that we wanted to give our little blog a glow up, we knew one thing was certain, it needs to be a positive and safe place. We’ve always been committed to making Boho Pretty a positive, inclusive, loving community and we wanted this to be an extension of that. Not only do we love sharing and supporting other small businesses, but we can’t wait to highlight other women in our community too.
We’re so honored to have Alicia Rose here with us, sharing her thoughts on stepping into your power. Not only does Alicia own her own hair salon, but she is also the author of Worthy and creator of The Worthy Podcast. To say that her story will inspire you, is an understatement.
See what Alicia has to say about stepping into your power…

Are you ready to step into your power?
At the beginning of each year it’s easy to fall into the trap of new year’s resolutions. As well meaning go getters this can seem like a great way to get ourselves motivated.
But….if you are anything like me it could go something like this. You create a list of all the things that you would like to achieve or create.
Maybe it’s to go to the gym a certain number of days a week or eat only organic kale while drinking a gallon of water…and write for an hour and day while keeping your house immaculate and feeling your family…
Your list may be completely different but the gist is this. We create a list of goals and or new habits that we are going to adopt into our life.
But as soon as something comes at us sideways such as someone gets sick or we need to work overtime, anything that throws things off balance…and we know life can certainly throw some curveballs.
We fold like a cheap card table. 🤦♀️
Not because we aren’t strong or because we weren’t motivated enough. It’s because we were trying to do things with our own strength, and could be running 100 miles an hour in the wrong direction.
Life comes in seasons and it changes like the seasons. We may feel this tug inside our hearts to change courses, improve or transform our life into something completely new.
And the new year is a beautiful time for reflection, redirection, and recharge.
But what if we did it differently this year? What if we got quiet with the one who made us and asked Him what he has In store for us this year?
What if we asked Him who he is calling us to be and what he is calling us to do?
Then once we were clear on the next step, asking him for the wisdom and strength to go forward in the right direction, the direction that will energize us and fulfill that longing that we feel inside us?
All while relying on his strength and not our own?
Spoiler alert my friend, you CAN change the plot. You CAN rewrite your story this year and you CAN have lasting change.
Second spoiler alert, you CAN do this anytime. It doesn’t have to be the new year. This is something that you can do over and over again as much as you need to.
I challenge you to get out a pen and paper, sit quietly and ask God what he has for you this year. Who he is calling you to become and what he is calling you to do.
Write down any thoughts that come to you, don’t overthink it. Write what comes to your mind. It might surprise you and excite you to see new possibilities that you hadn’t thought of before.
I ask that you go into this with gratitude, being thankful for all of the past versions of yourself. All of the seasons that you have walked though.
Because without them you would not be who you are today. You grow and evolve and become who you were meant to be in stages.
Just like a baby, they must learn to crawl before they walk. Each stage is just as important as the one before. The baby doesn’t resent the crawling stage, they are happy to get to where they want to go and as they develop they can get around easier and easier.
As you go forward I pray that you Crawl, and when you’re ready I pray that you step into your power. Because my friends, that’s where we all long to be and it’s available to you.
You are worthy of the life that you dream of. It’s already yours, you just have to claim it.

I can’t wait to see where you go!
Until next time, shine bright and don’t forget that you are Worthy.
Xoxo, Alicia Rose 🎉
